At the start of this year, I took a break from pet portraits and started work on more personal projects. This composition comes from my experience with depression and mental illness. It’s about the struggle of the human experience and our reaching out to God for help and relief. If we all go through pain and struggle in our lives, isn't it only natural that we yearn for something or someone who can relieve that pain? For me, that is Jesus, which is why I included the scripture as a part of the collage. Even though the verse is encouraging and hopeful, this work is probably the darkest and deepest portrait I’ve done thus far.
