Church transition to Open Table UMC

About a year ago, I stopped attending Elevation church and started going to Open Table United Methodist church every Sunday. I used to alternate every Sunday, but I decided that it was time to transition to going to Open Table every Sunday. It’s been a change, but it’s one that I’m glad I made.

I made the change because I wanted to start inviting more people to church, and I thought a lot of them would be more comfortable at an LGBTQ+ affirming church. While Elevation is not exclusive nor non accommodating towards the LGBTQ+ community, it’s also not affirming of it, and it’s not something that’s really talked about at the church.

Since making the change, I’ve had the opportunity to invite two friends of mine to the church, and they have both enjoyed visiting. I met them through the LGBT Center of Raleigh’s game night and we have been good friends ever since. Over the past few years, I have come to realize that the intersection of the LGBT+ community and Christianity is something that I care deeply about. I hope to continue my pursuit of knowledge with this topic in the future.
